Partnerships

Our postgraduate researcher, Hope Bachmann, has been working on a Collaborative Doctoral Award (funded by WRoCAH) with Opera North. Her project looks at how arts engagement facilitates solidarity with people who have refugee and asylum seeker experiences.

Our collaboration with Clapham Film Unit developed as part of the Ways of Knowing project. The project brings together academic researchers and creative practitioners from Leeds and across Europe to collaborate across disciplinary boundaries and disrupt academic hierarchies. Filmmaker Charlotte Bill documented our experience in a short film, which will be screened publicly on 17 May.

Derek Edyvane and Alba Griffith ran a workshop on 'Building Trust from Street-Level' at the Notwestminster 2023 practitioner conference. The workshop explored how habits of everyday living can help and hinder trust. It explored examples of trusting habits from different countries and imagined new technologies for building street-level trust – from apps to smart city innovations.

We co-organised a hackathon in May 2023 with peer-learning platform, Hive Learning, as part of a collaborative partnership to develop new design principles for civic technology.

Garrett Brown has been collaborating with the Evidence and Analytics for Health Security Unit at the World Health Organization. In this year, this includes the design and delivery of their Health Systems for Health Security training package, continued research evidence on the effectiveness of key International Health Regulation (IHRs) benchmarks, and the implementation and evaluation of two country-pilots for the Health Systems for Health Security Framework.

Garrett Brown is also collaborating with members of the Global Fund Board to investigate and support rationales for increasing African representation on the Board. This is ongoing and will result in a report for presentation to the Global Fund governing body in August.
