CCPT Pre-Doctoral Mentoring Programme, 2025-26

The Centre for Contemporary Political Theory works actively with candidates to support them in pursuit of scholarship funding for doctoral study.

To committed offer-holders, the Centre offers bursary funding for a visit to the university (including standard UK return rail fare, and one night hotel accommodation in Leeds if needed) to attend a CCPT research event and for dedicated time with Centre directors and/or prospective supervisors to identify scholarship opportunities and develop applications.

To be eligible for this opportunity you must have secured at least a verbal offer of a place on the POLIS PhD programme for an October 2026 start date either by 7th November 2025 for our 17th-18th November visit day. The deadline for a subsequent visit day in February 2026 will be announced. At least one of your prospective supervisors must be a member of CCPT.

Whilst we are unfortunately unable to fund international travel, the opportunity is open to international candidates unable to self-fund travel via online participation.

To apply for the bursary, please contact the CCPT directors, cc’d to your prospective supervisor(s) once you have received a verbal offer (and by 7th November for the 17th November visit day, or by the deadline in February 2026 to be announced) at the latest. Please send us your research proposal and CV. Bursaries will be awarded on the basis of quality of proposal and strategic fit with research strengths and priorities of CCPT. For further information, please contact the CCPT directors.
